Cricket, Cover to Cover.
Now play without getting caught.

Book Book Cricket - a reinvention of the popular schooltime classic, Book Cricket. For 2 players. Image shows a set of batting gloves and pads, laid out on the grass next to two books, one coloured like a cricket ball, and the other coloured like a cricket bat.

"I'm batting first!", Devi whispered. Karthik passed his social studies textbook over to her with the enthusiasm of a boy who's just found out that the cricket world cup final is scheduled the day before his computer science board exam. "Everyone wants to bat first", he grumbled. "What else is there to do in Book Cricket anyway?". Devi, meanwhile was furiously opening and closing the book, rapidly adding up the score like an accountant on the 31st of the month "4, 10, 11, 17, 23, 29, 33, 34, 35, 41, 42, 48, Aargh! Out just before 50! You need to get 49 to win".

"Finally, I get to do something", Karthik took the book from Devi and cracked his knuckles. He was taking guard, and asking for the sight screen to be adjusted. "KARTHIK! What are you doing?". Nalini Miss, who clearly felt she wasn't being paid enough to put up with this, voiced her disapproval. Karthik was suddenly no longer at Eden Gardens, and found himself sitting in a classroom, with everyone staring at him with the eager look of anticipation that everyone has when they know someone is getting in trouble, and it is not them. "Miss, it wasn't....", he turned to point a finger at Devi, to find her studiously writing in her notebook, with the seriousness of a woman who's just inherited a library and has to finish reading all of it. "Go to the Principal's office", Nalini Miss's voice faded as he walked back to the pavilion.

If this story evoked a bit of nostalgia, you probably don't have to worry about getting caught by Nalini Miss anymore. But you can still play.

Introducing Book Book Cricket. It's almost just like Book Cricket, except you play with two books! One for the batsman, and one for the bowler. Now, instead of just hoping you're lucky with your scoring, you have to beat the bowler's luck as well! While Book Cricket had only "batting", in Book Book Cricket, we have bowling and fielding as well. In its simplest form, all you need are two books. However, we encourage you to print this game out on an A4 sheet as a keepsake. Best of all, the game is available for free! Download it from the link below, and challenge your friends to a game. If you have kids, spend some time playing this with them, and pass on the skills and wisdom of a Book Cricket veteran on to the next generation. If you're still in school, don't get caught. And if you do, well, at least you have company now for the walk to the pavilion.
